Renowned Bangladeshi journalist Farzana Binte Hossain has been awarded the CSF Fred Hollows Foundation Award and Fellowship for her exceptional journalism in raising awareness and preventing childhood blindness. This prestigious award is considered one of the most distinguished in the field of health and development journalism globally.

In her reports, Farzana has highlighted the causes of childhood blindness, its social and economic impacts, and what can be done to prevent it. Specifically, she has focused on issues like vitamin A deficiency, unsafe deliveries, lack of awareness, and inadequate healthcare services.

As part of the award, she received a crest and a check of 25,000 BDT. After receiving the award, Farzana said, “This honor is not just mine, it is for all the children who are deprived of basic healthcare services. I believe it is crucial to work together to solve this problem in society.”

The event was held at the Sonargaon Hotel’s ballroom in the capital, where the Fred Hollows Foundation praised her work, stating, “Farzana Binte Hossain has brought an important issue, such as childhood blindness, to the forefront with her investigative reporting.
